Enclosures
Enclosures are a way of including extra files – pictures, PDFs, etc. – in your message. You do not need to use enclosures. If the image you want is already on a website somewhere you can just link to it with a normal <img src> HTML tag including the proper URL (this is also known as a link tag.) But if the image is not already on a site – e.g. it's sitting on your hard drive – then you have to get it onto a web server somewhere before any link will work.
This is what enclosures do. By adding an enclosure to your message, and using a special enclosure tag you don't have to go through the normal process of finding a web server or image gallery, uploading your image via ftp or some other protocol, and then linking to it. Here are detailed instructions on How to Use Enclosures. To remove an enclosure from a message just uncheck the box next to the name and hit the "Add" button again. It's actually an "Update" function but most people just add so that's what I labeled it.
Member Links
Member Links show up on every page of MuddyWatersMX.net. They let you logon to your account, create an account if you do not have one, and create a new message if you are a member and are already logged on. You do not need to have an account or logon to read the site - only to post messages.
Podcast Information
This field only appears if you are an System Admin. If you are creating a Podcast message use this field to specify the location of the Podcast file, the size, and the file type.
Related Links
Related Links is an optional field. It is available only to Editors. If there is nothing entered in the field it is ignored. You can enter standard URLs, one per line, into this field. Use it to record secondary sources and other links that support your article. It's best to enter these URLs as links in the text of your article, but sometimes there may be links that you just want to keep as reference for yourself. These links will show up (again, just for Editors) in the descriptive header on the Message View page. They do not show up at all on the weblog pages.
Source Link
The Source Link is an optional field. It is available only to Editors. If there is nothing entered in it the field is ignored. If you are writing about a specific article, product, etc then the Source Link field is where you enter the URL of the main reference for your article. Use standard HTML nomenclature - e.g. http://www.xxxxxx.com etc. It is best to enter this URL as a link in the text of your message, but entering it here causes it to show up as the "Source" in the message header on the weblog.
Weblog Summary
The Weblog Summary field is an optional field and is only visible to Weblog Editors. If you've written a lengthy article, more than 250 words or so, then you might want to show just a summary of the article on the main weblog page. The Summary field lets you do this and adds an automatic [More...] link to let readers click for the rest of the story. If you don't put anything in the summary field it is ignored and the entire article shows on the main weblog page.
